CIF Championships

Here is a countdown clock to the start of the CIF Championships in San Diego. CIF stands for California Interscholastic Federation and they are 100% committed to developing student athletes of character. You can reach there website here or here. Once a year, The California Interscholastic Federation is the governing body for high school sports in the state of California. CIF membership includes both public and private high schools. Unlike most other state organizations, it does not have a single, state-wide championships for all sports; instead, for some sports, the CIF's 10 Sections each have their own championships.

The purpose of this post is to raise awareness for Cross Country because, for their second year in a row, several students will be selected from the Sage Creek High School Cross Country team to run in the CIF Championship. All athletes lucky enough to be on their school's varsity team compete in CIF sectionals (the equivalent of districts in other states) to qualify for CIF State Championships. Since this year, just like the first year at SCHS, only Cross Country is participating at Varsity they are the only ones competing this year.

Next year, 2015-2016, the majority of remaining SCHS sports will make their way to Varsity but until then, everyone be sure to congratulate and support Cross Country and acknowledge their crazy efforts this year when you get the chance.

A Shout-Out to SC Athletics

This post is a shout-out to all the teams prepping for their upcoming seasons in the winter as well as all the teams who continue to work hard as their seasons draw to a close. The end to the fall trimester at Sage Creek on Friday, November 21 will mark the end of one great period for the school's second year and the beginning of another. Everyday, cross country, girls volleyball, field-hockey, and girls tennis can be seen working hard to get better in their respective playing grounds and it is truly awesome to see how much they care about their teams and their school.

Most of Sage Creek's athletic groups have or will be starting up their second teams this year as well. Most sports teams plan on playing with both a Freshman and Junior Varsity level while several, such as girl's volleyball, opted to go straight to JV and Varsity. Doing this gives them a tremendous leap in their growth because, even while struggling against players that start as seniors, being sophomores they are only getting better from this great experience.

Boy's basketball, boy's baseball, and wrestling are three teams that deserve special props though. For almost two months now, these three teams have been especially hard at work getting conditioned on the track and in the weight room for their respective seasons. It is awesome to watch them improve on a daily basis by getting stronger and faster, and by building better relationships within their team families.
